Welcome to my website
My name is Billy Briggs and I’m a writer and journalist from Scotland who focuses on human rights issues. My journalism has been recognised at both the Scottish and British Press Awards and I’ve won awards for my reporting from Amnesty International, Oxfam and the European Union.
In recent years my reports have been published by, among many others, The Guardian, New Statesman, The Sunday Times, The Herald, Sunday Herald, Scotland On Sunday, The Scotsman, Mail On Sunday, New Zealand Herald, The Age, Sydney Morning Herald, Irish Examiner, World Politics Review and the BBC.
It is a privilege to be a journalist and my work has taken me to some fascinating places. I've interviewed al-Qassam fighters in Gaza and Maoist rebels in Nepal and investigated neo-Nazis in both Austria and Russia. Since 2006, I've also reported from Dubai, Germany, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Israel, Lebanon, Northern Ireland, Slovakia, Spain, Syria and the West Bank.
Please visit this website regularly for my reports and feel free to contact me with any comments or with regards to commissions. For latest news, please read the blog I write for Amnesty International.
Thanks for your time.
