NEWS REPORTING

I am an experienced news reporter having worked at a local paper in the west of Scotland called the Irvine Times before moving on to The Herald, one of the UK's oldest and most prestigious broadsheet newspapers and Scotland's leading title.
During my tenure with The Herald I was based in the Glasgow news room and covered major issues such as the G8 summit at Gleneagles, Nelson Mandela's visit to Barlinnie Prison to meet with the Lockerbie bomber Ali al Megrahi, and the anti-war demos in the lead up to the Iraq war. I was part of the reporting team in 2005 that was runner-up at the Scottish Press Awards for its coverage of the Stockline plastics explosion in Glasgow.
I've reported recently for The Guardian and Sunday Herald.
